Kristi Hill, wife of Drew Hill, Oklahoma director of player personnel, said that hosting players for dinner is one of her favorite parts of being a football wife.

“You can’t [feed players] whenever you want, because there are rules. Once a month is the most you can do it,” said Kristi. “But we do have football players over, and especially during the holidays.”

Kristi said she especially likes to feed the guys during Thanksgiving. “We have big Thanksgiving dinners and we invite all the kids that don’t have family or friends nearby that they can go to, to eat at our house.”

The relationship that the Hill family builds with players has led to nicknames like “Ma” and “Pop.” Here’s Ma’s Corn Casserole recipe– a football player favorite.

Kristi Hill’s Corn Casserole


  • 1 can creamed corn
  • 1 can Mexican kernel corn
  • ½ cup onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup green pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 large jar Juven drink
  • 1 egg, well-beaten
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup American cheese, shredded
  • 1 sleeve Ritz crackers, crushed
  • Salt and pepper, to taste 


Put all ingredients together. Stir and mix before putting in a Pyrex dish. Bake at 315 degrees for 1 hour.
